Purso Office Lighting at LEDiL
When LEDiL, the master of LED light optics, received renovated facilities at the Salo IoT Campus, the new office was outfitted with the stylish Purso SNEP® LX fixtures with black frames.
The LEDiL offices contain an open-plan office with almost 500 square meters of floor area, break rooms, negotiation rooms, and some private offices. The LEDiL office also serves as a showroom where visitors can see the kinds of optics that the company designs and makes. LEDiL lenses are used in various lighting applications both indoors and outdoors, including in some Purso lights.
Human centric lighting improves the office atmosphere
The starting point for the lighting design of the office was to make sure that everyone feels good and enjoys working there, says LEDiL interior lighting unit director Henri Uutela. What was needed was an even and soft light that suits the space – and of course some good-looking fixtures:
– Our principle of “visual comfort” means that the lighting should facilitate comfortable seeing in the space. On the other hand, it also refers to the pleasant appearance of light fixtures.
The fixtures at the LEDiL office include color temperature adjustment, making it possible to tune the light according to the time of day or year. With the so-called tunable white lighting solution, the color temperature can be adjusted from warm (more yellow) to cold (more blue). This makes it possible to adapt various lights not only to natural light, but to the task as well. By adjusting the tone, different moods can be created for events and other occasions.
Black frames and installation rails were chosen for the fixtures in the LEDiL office to achieve a stylish impression.
– We decided together with the architect that this was the best fit for the black window frames in the building, says interior lighting unit product manager Veijo Isojunno.
He reports that the fixtures have received nothing but positive feedback from both in-house staff and visitors: “Everyone thinks that the rooms and lights are very stylish.”
Purso meets special needs
As a lighting industry operator, LEDiL of course knew exactly what technical properties they wanted. The configuration was simple using the Purso product selector, says Uutela. He points out that the best outcome is not achieved by looking at numerical illumination requirements only:
– For example, a UGR value of below 19 is not enough, but there simply must not be any glare.
Purso and LEDiL have a history of developing products together, so LEDiL knew that the quality of Purso products is dependable and that flexible customizations are possible.
– We had some special needs, so we contacted Purso product development directly. The tailor-made order was completed smoothly, and all deliveries were done on time despite our sudden move, says Uutela.
The fixtures at the LEDiL offices are equipped with their proprietary DAISY and BRIANNA lenses. The lighting control system is wireless, and the entire solution is flexible, so fixtures can be added and changed depending on the needs of the showroom.
“The best office lighting is unnoticeable”
When lighting works best, it does not require you to pay any attention to it.
– The light level is sufficient and does not cause any bothersome glare, Isojunno says.
The LEDiL office lights are on timers and motion detectors to keep the lights off when not needed.
The unobtrusiveness of the lighting is supported by optics developed according to the LEDiL “Dark Light” concept. This makes it possible to have glare-free lights across the entire facility. By adding indirect lights in addition to the Dark Light fixtures, the room appears more natural and harmonious. Dark Light fixtures hide the light source and consequently prevent glare. Such lighting is useful especially in offices, where overbearingly bright light sources are not wanted.
