HAMK SmartBio Centre lighting

Education and research advancing the green transition

Around 80 students and staff work at Häme University of Applied Sciences’ SmartBio Centre. They develop solutions that accelerate the green transition across various industries. The 1,800‑square‑metre facility focuses on, for example, production technologies for bio-based raw materials and the utilisation of side streams and waste flows. The premises and their technologies enable research down to the DNA level.

Teaching facilities and laboratories: lighting by Purso

A wide range of hands-on projects are carried out in the SmartBio education and research environment. The facilities enable, for example, food processing, development of fermentation products, and fermentation of plant-based products. In the laboratory spaces, lighting is provided by the SNEP® Novem luminaire, equipped with a low discomfort glare, offering low discomfort glare and high-performance optics.

Altogether, five different luminaires manufactured by Purso are used in the building’s various types of spaces. For example, teaching and common areas, such as the lobby, are illuminated by the SNEP® MODE R luminaire.
