We are creating a more sustainable world by making miracles with aluminum

Sustainability is one of the cornerstones of Purso’s business, and its importance continues to grow in our operations. Our key focus areas are environmental, social, and corporate responsibility.

Purso Sustainability Report

Purso’s sustainability measures are presented in our Sustainability Report,
which allows us to monitor our progress towards our targets annually.

Halving its emissions, Purso is a circular economy pioneer

Purso started recycling aluminum at its own smelter in the early 1980s, and now our recycled Greenline aluminum is used in all our business segments.

Purso’s long-standing commitment to environmental responsibility is also reflected in our ISO 14001 environmental certification, which we were granted as early as in 2002. At the moment, the replacement of fossil fuels with electricity is one thing that is driving our investments and directing Purso towards a low-carbon future: The electrification of the billet furnaces is the most important step in our green transition. We have also acquired heat recovery equipment and heat pump systems that use waste heat as a heat source to produce district heating for buildings and for other purposes.

On the other hand, our positive carbon handprint comes from offering solutions that reduce the carbon footprint of our customers. For example, choosing an energy-efficient building system product or a lamp with a recycled aluminum body is an environmental act. Our products come with EPD environmental declarations.

Sustainability as part of management

Our success is based on profitable growth and the Purso culture

We are a long-term partner to our customers and a pioneer in the industry, known for our bold problem-solving skills and meticulous work ethic. Responsibility for maintaining financial stability means ensuring the foundation for our success in the long term.

We contribute to social sustainability through taxes and payroll. In Nokia, where our company is located, we have been the largest corporate taxpayer for several years. We pay taxes in each country in which we operate in accordance with local legislation, and our Group has no foreign subsidiaries in countries making unusual tax concessions. To promote a transparent corporate culture, we publish our tax footprint in our annual sustainability report.
